Help save the planet - in vintage style!

Have you joined the re-use revolution? If you are reading this blog there’s a good chance you have, there is something about vintage and nostalgia that make us think of the ‘old’ ways of doing things. Carefully crafted items cared for by many generations of people were once commonplace. We are now understanding that the make do and mend mentality of by gone era’s was in fact a much better way to live for our planet. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and like you are not doing enough, but we must remember every small act adds up. Hiring items, over buying new is a great way to start.

I recently wrote a piece for the ‘party kit network’ on their blog. If you are not familiar with them they are a non-profit organisation working to make parties more sustainable. Their message is simple, it's re-use as much as possible. I am proud to say that Elsie-Rose Vintage Crockery has been part of this network for almost a year now. Not the best year for parties it has to be said but our time will come. The network gives people an easy tool to locate party kits for hire and Vintage Crockery hire for special occasions. I love that Elsie-Rose Vintage is part of the solution to the problem of our ‘throw away’ culture. Our crockery is too special not to be enjoyed time and time again and I am delighted to have rescued these treasures for my customers to enjoy.

If you would like to read the blog post and find our more about our journey and check out the network, here is the link.
